'Freedom' A poem by yours truly

FREEDOM
Freedom,
It’s that little aspect,
of not being tied down,
It’s that feeling of Zen,
It’s that feeling of peace…
I love that feeling.

Freedom,
I have found that people have been privy to it,
This feeling,
The feeling of freedom,
I pity those that have perpetrated this,
Those that take freedom away,
For they themselves are not free.

Freedom,
So empowering and magical,
The endless possibilities of freedom,
You’re free to dream and wonder,
Wonder and dream about the beauty of the world.

Freedom,
Some might find peace with it,
But it means so much more than that.
We strive for freedom,
Yet we sabotage our own,
Why?

    1. Hello Jeanette! I personally strive for 'personal freedom' in a sense... in turn I feel that my freedom in views of society will fall into place.

  3. Your last three lines were majestic.
    "We strive for freedom,
    Yet we sabotage our own,
    Why?"
That was just beautiful, what an awesome job.

    1. Hello Angel... in turns of the person, freedom is relative. He or she can choose what their own version of freedom is. Society paints a different view on what your freedom should be. Its up to you to choose which one you shall follow.

  5. Hello.
You wrote about freedom, clearly. But, do you not feel free? In life we chose our paths and we have the liberty to do so. Are you trying to say that you feel oppressed?

    1. Hi Nicolas! In reality this poem was inspired by an outdoors experience if you could believe it. And as cliché as that might sound, it really did make me truly reflect on the concept of freedom... the poem is about the beauty of freedom and the possibilities behind freedom itself.
